Our Mission

Acupuncture is the most utilized service we offer.
It draws the youth into the clinic where we can help them overcome problems such as emotional instability, chemical dependency, and other at-risk behavior that may endanger their health and well-being.

This program is a gateway for homeless and low income people with mental health and substance abuse issues to connect with a variety of other medical and social services. United For health's acupuncturists administer 900 to 1,000 acupuncture treatments per month, serving an average of 360 new clients each year.

We offer acupuncture treatment, individual counseling, support groups, and help making medical appointments. Nutrition is also a key component in our program to enable clients' recovery.

Our Mission
Acupuncture Therapy for HIV+

United for Health's staff created the first Youth-Specific Acupuncture Clinic for HIV+ street youth in San Francisco in 1993. Our HIV Acupuncture Clinic at Berkeley Primary Care has been in operation since 1996. Many clients say acupuncture makes them feel the best of all their treatment modalities. Patients are given referrals for mental health and social services provided by the City of Berkeley and County of Alameda.

Acupuncture treatment is available only by doctor referral, so we know that these clients are receiving allopathic medical care and monitoring on a regular basis. Appointments are necessary, and can be made by calling 510-204-4835.
