In order for our youth

United For Health is a nonprofit community health organization providing services in the San Francisco Bay Area.  Our staff has established programs in a variety of settings - hospitals, jails, community health clinics, and youth advocacy organizations in San Francisco, Fremont, Vallejo and Berkeley California.

Our primary goal is to help bridge the gap in services to those who have the least access to care – at risk youth, the homeless, people with HIV or AIDS, and those with mental health or substance abuse issues.

United for Health's mission is to provide health care and education that is totally accessible to our clients. We offer them free acupuncture, nutritional and crisis counseling, and important resource and referral linkages to other medical and psycho-social providers.

Our efforts to remove barriers to health care have paid off for both our clients and our community as a whole. United for Health staff works closely with many stakeholders, clinics, and schools to intervene early with education and preventative services which reduce or eliminate costly visits to Emergency Rooms.

United for Health was formally recognized as the Best Community Nonprofit Organization for 2008 and 2014 for our work with alcohol, tobacco and other drug dependencies.

Executive Director Hope McDonnell was given the Health Practitioner of the Year Award in 2007 and 2014 by the California Senate and the American Lung Association.
